Vienna!

Yesterday, we took a train from Krakow to Vienna. Unfortunately there were some serious delays so a trip that was supposed to take about 5 1/2 hours took almost 8.

Sigh. As a result, we didn’t have time to do much last night aside from trying a new drink. Incidentally – a dirndl isn’t just a dress, apparently it’s a fruit as well! And they use it to make tasty alcohols and syrups. Some may be coming home (assuming we can find it!)

Today, we were supposed to go to Salzburg but the tour we booked was canceled. Since we didn’t find this out until relatively late last night, we didn’t have much time to find something else to do today. So we went on a 3 hour cruise up and down the Danube.

The awesome part? We went through a couple of locks – one going upriver and one going down.

Upriver locks:

Downstream locks: completely different mechanism in this direction.

So cool to see how they work up close and personal 😁

And here are a few other random pics I took along the river:

Then dinner and back to the hotel.

All in all, not a bad day!
