So our adventure is over – we leave tomorrow morning. The last couple of days have been a whirlwind of visiting all the places we were told we shouldn’t miss… Prague Castle (also grounds and St. Vitus cathedral)
Back to Prague
Saturday we came back to Prague. Poland and Austria were awesome but it was good to come “home”. Countryside from the train: Then Sunday, (surprise!) we visited a church… Actually, we went to mass so I could hear the organ. Didn’t understand a word of the service but the music was good 😊 🎶 This… Continue reading Back to Prague
Vienna Day 2
Where to begin… This was a day of tours and pictures. So much information that I honestly don’t remember a fraction of it but I’ll do my best. The morning tour was a walking tour of downtown Vienna – the historical bits. We started in Maria – Theresien Platz, a square dedicated to the only… Continue reading Vienna Day 2
Vienna!
Yesterday, we took a train from Krakow to Vienna. Unfortunately there were some serious delays so a trip that was supposed to take about 5 1/2 hours took almost 8. Sigh. As a result, we didn’t have time to do much last night aside from trying a new drink. Incidentally – a dirndl isn’t just… Continue reading Vienna!
Krakow day 2
We had a low key day today. Auschwitz was a lot to take in and I’m still processing. I’ll post about it eventually but not yet. We mostly wandered around and went into a church today. I did say it was low key… But the church is amazing – St. Mary’s Church in the Main… Continue reading Krakow day 2
And on to Krakow!!
My class is done, I’m officially certified to teach TEFL. That was… a lot. But I’m glad I did it. Equally glad it’s over!! The Prague train station has a giant Lego model of the station. So cool! Day 1 in Krakow has been nice – we got in around 1230, walked to the hotel,… Continue reading And on to Krakow!!
Prague part 2
My class is almost over – doing ok with it but jeez. It is so different from how I usually plan and teach! I’m learning a lot of new skills, some of which I’ll probably incorporate into my regular teaching. The class should wrap up in Friday then it’s off to Krakow and Vienna!! But… Continue reading Prague part 2
Prague!! Finally…
Well, I’m going to try to catch up here. Class has settled a bit so I have a little breathing room. We landed 3 weeks (!!) ago – hard to believe it’s been that long… Mostly, we’ve been going to class (Sarah) and working (Pam) so it’s been business as usual. Kinda. In a city… Continue reading Prague!! Finally…
Day 6 – Elephant Sanctuary
Pictures from the walk to the elephant sanctuary – it’s up in the mountains and the road getting there was an adventure! Twisty, narrow, and with super steep drop offs on each side. I’m so glad I wasn’t driving… Once we got to the sanctuary, we chopped up sugarcane as a treat for the elephants… Continue reading Day 6 – Elephant Sanctuary
Day 5 – SEEC Service Project Day 2
Today, we built a mushroom house, added mushroom spores to over a thousand mushroom bags (that they made yesterday) to go in it, and created a raised bed garden for the school. The students were awesome – they did all this work in 6 hours and still had energy to play with the Thai children!… Continue reading Day 5 – SEEC Service Project Day 2
